Dina feels very strongly for the plight of her people – and sees the world’s response to Syria as backwards. Instead of arguing over how to handle the refugees, she thinks the world’s politicians should address the Syrian conflict and help put a stop to it, as a matter of urgency. “Accepting refugees, being a refugee, these are not good things for anyone,” she says. “The solution is in Syria, not outside of Syria.”
For now, she is happy she landed in a good refugee camp, she’s grateful that her necessities are being looked after and has been pleased so far with the way that people have welcomed her in Germany. Dina looks forward to getting out of the camp — which is located in an industrial area on the outskirts of Koln — getting her asylum status papers, and going back to school.
