Hosam is currently awaiting relocation at a refugee camp in Leverkusen, and he hopes to study a graduate degree and settle down in Germany, although he wishes to return to Syria to be with his family once the war is —he is not counting on it ending anytime soon, however. When asked about it, he replied: ‘I’d like to go back one day – but that could be ten years from now, or more, no one knows’.

He has been waiting at the Leverkusen camp for nearly two months, and had begun a hunger strike against what he believed was an apathetic neglect by the authorities. Luckily, his name has been put on the list for relocation and he has ended the hunger strike.
